The Guitar

The ultimate rock instrument - versatile, mobile and effortlessly cool. The guitar is simple to pick up but tough to master, often making it a life's work.

There are several types of guitar, the most common being the nylon-stringed acoustic guitar (also known as the classical or Spanish guitar), the steel-stringed acoustic guitar, and, of course, the electric guitar. Most people start to learn on either the steel-stringed acoustic or the electric.

The skills learnt are transferable to either version so most experienced guitarists have at least one of each.

One of the joys of learning the guitar is that it is an instrument that needs no accompaniment. We can have you strumming and singing your favourite songs in weeks, and then show you the tools needed to start composing your own material. For the purist guitar player who wants to play lead, you, too, can be playing your favourite riffs in no time and we have developed a course to take you from novice all the way to the advanced.

The KTM workshops offer you the opportunity to experience what it is to plug in and play loud with a full band. Typically you can be attending these within 6 months of picking up the instrument.

So whether it's rock, pop, country, folk, funk, or blues guitar you want to learn, or any combination or those, our teachers have the expertise to guide you every fret of the way.
